Writing for Network World http://www.networkworld.com/chat/archive/2008/050608-nac-chat-joel-snyder.html, security consultant Joel Snyder cedes the advanage in NAC technology to Microsoft centered on its client software that is interoperable with many other vendors' NAC schemes. While this might be seen as bad news for Cisco, it really strengthens Cisco's position against other NAC vendors. With Microsoft clients nearly ubiquitous and Cisco selling the majority of enterprise switches, the client in combination with Cisco's switches - potential NAC enforcement points - create a scenario where the Microsoft client could actually push NAC business toward Cisco.
