Microsoft keeps trying, but usurping Google's dominance just isn't in the cards--at least for now. The problem is that Microsoft needs to tie everything it does tightly to the Windows "cash cow," but that's not where the marketplace is heading.
If enterprises can get the same functionality - via virtualization, mobile OSes and cloud computing - why would they invest in more Windows licenses, along with the support/troubleshooting headaches that brings? As Google Apps and other strong mobile/online alternatives to Windows appear, Microsoft will continue to struggle to gain any kind of marketshare dominance in the online world. And since that's where enterprises are heading--to more open mobile 'Net-based computing--Microsoft could be seeing its best days in the rearview window.
The best place to talk about enterprise networking.
