Net Security Education is on-going

I started my first Web filtering company because our children's school had some "web surfing issues." A signed acceptable use policy is no guarantee of security especially in a school. Curiosity, hormones or whatever creates a very challenging environment. Throwing technology at the situation can help, is very expensive, but is NO assurance that controls and policy are working and expectations are being satisfied.

In EVERY school situation I've seen personally, the administration is always playing catch-up and the students are always pushing new frontiers. It's a continuous effort to educate, reinforce, monitor and planning to maintain a sound environment and keep the wheels on the bus.

It's not Cisco that will keep things safe. It's sound, standardized management process which, as noted in another blog entry, is not what Cisco is all about. They sell big expensive iron...and do it quite well. The rest is up to the user.
