Unique Email Addresses
The use of unique email addresses is the same technique that is used when supplying address lists to others to use (such as printing mailing labels for magazine subscriptions or direct mail campaigns). These one-time-use or specific-use lists are salted with addresses that are monitored by the list supplier. Any time something comes to one of these addresses that is not what that address was supposed to be used for, it is known that the list was leaked/sold/repurposed and the matter can be looked into.
