Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice you pay the price

When the retail industry has repeatedly shown that they have no concept of data security then they need to be fined within a hairs width of Chapter 11. Also maybe CEO's, CIO's, CFO's need to be dragged into court.

Its interesting that a handful of people in a company save time (and money for Wall Street) and then cause millions of man hours to be WASTED by consumers trying to undo/recover from the actions of a few. I can see why banks, credit unions and card companies would like to see more security. They also have to spend untold man hours and costs everytime some STUPID retailer has a data breach.

The retail industry continues to show consumers that they don't care or have no concept of treating customer's information with the care and respect it deserves. Without customers they would not be where they are. Maybe if a few were fined into oblivion the rest would get the message.

Shame on Gartner for allowing their analyst to stick her head in the sand. How many more breaches have to happen before people realize that the retail industry has unsed up all of their chances????
