This week, Westcon's UK Comstor division announced that it will distribute the HP ProCurve product line to its reseller customers alongside its previously almost exclusive Cisco product line card. Why? According to a CRN report, it's to accommodate demands coming from Comstor's reseller customers.
"We see this as wholly complementary to our existing Cisco business. Where our customers cannot always sell Cisco we want to be in a position to offer them a credible and reliable alternative where this is the case. We chose HP because of the strength of their brand and because they have an exciting strategy to grow their business at a pace much faster than the market," said Jon Pritchard - Vice President and General Manager of Comstor Europe.
Pritchard added, "The most important thing is that this was driven by our partners."
It's interesting to note that Cisco awarded Westcon and Comstor the "Global Distributor of the Year" and the "Multi-Theater Partner of the Year" awards, so there's got to be a pretty strong business case for adding ProCurve to its distribution lineup.
However for yours truly, it's these words from Pritchard that really caught my attention:
"We chose HP because of the strength of their brand and because they have an exciting strategy to grow their business at a pace much faster than the market."
