The rush to Windows Server?

A year ago Microsoft released Windows Vista, its first desktop operating system in five years. Next month, it will follow with the first service pack for Vista, but not before releasing Windows Server 2008 Feb. 27, which was also five years in development. The two share the same code base and form a combination needed for such new technologies as Network Access Protection. It’s been a long and winding road for Microsoft, but the company has more milestones, including SQL Server 2008, which will help build out a Windows platform to support local and online applications.
